22 December 2016 KWF grants for cancer research Back to news Alexander van Oudenaarden, Jacco van Rheenen and Nannette Jelluma received a KWF grant (together approx. 1,3 M) for two new cancer research projects, starting in 2017. Van Oudenaarden and Van Rheenen will focus on quantifying clonal dynamics, metastatic potential and therapy resistance in breast cancer organoids using single-cell sequencing; Jelluma will explore the impact of diverse chromosomal instability levels on tumour progression and disease remission. The KWF divided 50 M among 88 projects, of which 33 fundamental research projects. The selection criteria were based on three main points of focus: relevance for cancer treatment, feasibility and scientific quality.
