Retrospective Hubrecht Symposium 2025

Developmental Biology – Morphogenesis and cell fate decisions

On Thursday, 13 March 2025, researchers from across the Dutch developmental biology community gathered to explore the latest findings, exchange ideas, and strengthen community ties.

Below, you’ll find a brief recap and some photos capturing highlights of the day.

The symposium began with an opening from Director Geert Kops, who warmly welcomed attendees. Ben Simons followed with an insightful keynote on spermatogenesis, explaining how this process sheds light on the mechanisms of stem cell regulation.

Throughout the day, engaging presentations sparked lively discussions among participants.

During breaks, attendees took the opportunity to reconnect and network with colleagues from the Dutch developmental biology community.

Researchers also shared their recent findings and exchanged ideas during an interactive poster session.

Fiona Watt concluded the symposium with a keynote on using spatial mapping of epidermal cell populations to reveal the mechanism of cell fate decisions at the tissue level.

Many thanks to all participants for their contribution to a great day!
