5 November 2015 Hubrecht Institute opens new laboratory building Back to news Today the Hubrecht Institute opens the doors of its new laboratory building. The institute, that celebrates its 100 year anniversary in 2016, is now ready for a new era of fundamental research. The Hubrecht Institute was one of the first organisations to move to the Uithof in the sixties. In 2000 the institute moved to a new building. After many scientific successes and growth, further expansion was required. The Hubrecht Institute, with its new and modern laboratory building, now has a prominent position on the Uithof. The UMC Utrecht, affiliated with the Hubrecht since 2008, also resides in the new building. This way the collaboration between the two organisations will be strengthened even more. Alexander van Oudenaarden, director of the Hubrecht Institute: “Today is a historical day in which we will move into the new building together with the UMC Utrecht. Two organisations literally coming together like this, is unique. We are very proud. Our fundamental insights will be integrated in the clinic much faster now”.
